The Municipality of Agia Varvara honors the great Historian and Byzantinologist
The Eleni Glykatzi-Arveler and its contribution to letters and culture will be honored by the Municipality of Agia Varvara.
As announced by the municipal authority, its name will be given to the cultural space of the city, which will now be called “Center of Speech and Art Eleni Glykatzi-Arveler”.
The naming will take place with a special event on Monday, June 20 at the Cultural Center (27 Kalantzakou & Old Warriors) at 7 p.m. The director of the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Agia Varvara and actor Maximos Moumouris will preface and coordinate, while the vice-rector of the University of Peloponnese Giorgos Andreiomenos and the mezzo soprano of the National Lyric Stage of Lyric will speak about her life and work. of the Municipal Conservatory of Agia Varvara, Lydia Angelopoulou.
During the unveiling of the honorary inscription, the mayor Lambros Michos will present the golden mark of the municipality to Mrs. Glykatzi-Arveler.
The event will be accompanied by music and interpretation of her melodic poetry by the folk orchestra of the Municipal Conservatory under the direction of George Konstantopoulos, with soprano Lydia Angelopoulou and tenor Andreas Karaoulis. Benjamin Hadjikoumbaroglou on piano and Achilleas Beris on violin. The musical address will be made by the Orchestra of Small Guitarists of the Municipal Conservatory of Agia Varvara under the direction of Alexandros Paparizos.
