The racetrack, the temples of Hera and Zeus, the workshop of Pheidias, and the ivory statue of Zeus, are just some of the monuments that are realistically reconstructed in this fascinating journey through time.
“Ancient Olympia: Common Place” is the title of the magazine exposure augmented reality show Athens Olympic Museum. The exhibition is part of the wider project of the same title and is the result of its partnership Ministry of Culture and Sports with Microsoft Corp. The project was inaugurated in November 2021 in a solemn event at the archeological site of Ancient Olympia, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
The visitors of the exhibition will have the opportunity to live a fascinating experiential virtual touring experience in the sanctuary of Olympia of the 2nd century. AD, which comes to life before their eyes with its digital preservation and restoration thanks to Technologies of Artificial Intelligence and Mixed Reality. The racetrack, the temples of Hera and Zeus, the workshop of Pheidias, and the ivory statue of Zeus, are just some of the monuments that are realistically reconstructed in this fascinating journey through time.
The exhibition includes three more stations of digital tour and exploration of the cultural heritage of Ancient Olympia, the Olympic Games and the Values ​​of Olympism: The interactive viewing of 27 monuments of the sanctuary in real scale, through the application of Augmented Reality, a large view of the tour Olympia, but also the entire three-dimensional interactive representation of the “common place” of Ancient Olympia through impressive screens of revolutionary state-of-the-art computers.
Finally, each visitor will be able to share by voice or text message their thoughts on one of the values ​​of Equality, Justice, Excellence, Peace, Respect and Cooperation, in a global common place of the values ​​of Olympism.
The exhibition “Ancient Olympia: Common Place” is hosted in the Events and Periodical Exhibition Hall of the Olympic Museum of Athens (level 0) inside the Golden Hall and admission will be free to the public.
