THE Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodorikakos at an event held at the City Hall of Paleo Faliro, presented what has happened in the field of security in the last 10 months in the coastal municipality.
In his introductory speech, the Minister underlined that it is a priority for the Government and the Ministry to strengthen the sense of security of citizens in every corner of the country, from the borders to the urban centers.
“We are fulfilling our commitments and the results are visible to everyone. We have shielded our borders and every day we prevent the entry of 900 illegal immigrants in our country. “Our neighbors’ plans to use the tools of unhappy people fall on the wall”, Mr. Theodorikakos stressed and added: “The increase of policing in urban centers has contributed to the reduction of small and medium crime by 30% according to the official data of the Greek Police” .
Mr. Theodorikakos informed the mayor, the deputy mayors and the bodies of the city that the Paleo Faliro Police Department was reinforced with 22 special guards from the University Institutions Protection Teams (OPPI) – as at this time their presence in HEIs is not required. – and promised that from September, these uniforms will be replaced by graduates of the Police Schools.
The Minister then referred to the removal by the Police of Roma groups from the beach of P. Faliro and the area of ​​TAE KVON DO.
“We continue to work closely with the Local Government and the Municipality of Paleo Faliro, joining forces to make citizens feel safe in the city and neighborhoods,” said Mr. Theodorikakos.
Concluding his speech, the Minister also spoke about the issues of road safety and delinquent driving behavior on the coast, emphasizing that “Human life is precious and should not be sacrificed on the asphalt. That is why increased traffic controls are carried out to deal with the violations (pumps, helmets, driving with the use of mobile phones, etc.) “.
