Reading record for the students of the Municipality of Kalamaria – They read 14,000 books!

Students of Kindergartens, Primary and Secondary Schools participate in the reading program “Bookworms”, which is organized for the 3rd consecutive year.

The students read more than 14,000 books Kindergartens, Primary and Secondary Schools of the Municipality of Kalamaria, participating in the literacy program “Bookworms”organized for the 3rd consecutive year by Municipal Libraries of the Municipality of Kalamaria.

The program offers a list of books for all ages, while children, when they complete it reading a book, add it to their email list, along with their comments. The aim of the “Bookworms” is for the children to enjoy selected, remarkable books for their age and to create for each student their own reading diaries, which are awarded with praise and a commemorative badge. At the same time, at the end of the process, the reading recordwith the ultimate goal of creating a new and numerous generation of readers.

The children participate in the program either as a class or individually, while according to its report, this year 33 schools participated, 112 classes and 684 children who read 12,984 books. In the individual participations, 95 children read 1705 books.

In detail, per level of education, 15 kindergartens, 32 classes and 203 children participated who read 6874 books. In terms of primary schools, 13, 62 classes participated and 463 students who read 5856 books. From the level of Gymnasium, 5 schools, 18 classes and 78 children with 254 readings took part in the program.

Reading records were recorded by 82 primary school children with 1629 readings and 13 high school children with 76.
