Do they reach the mountain for three days to decompress and live unique moments with your friends and family? How do you imagine a summer mountain festival? Do you think that you can find in the green landscape of the mountain, in a small mountain village, over twenty different cultural, gastronomic, sports, technological, artistic and all kinds of experiences? The answer to everything is … Vamvakou Experience Festival 2022! A three-day event full of authentic Cotton experiences, 01 – 03 July 2022, with the signature of Vamvakou Revival and the exclusive donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN).
Vamvakou Revival has designed a wonderful program for all the interests, visitors and residents of the village with inspiration and passion. Unique collaborators and friends were invited to the village to put their own little stone, bringing with them experiences, programs, activities and their best mood. Come and run, learn, have fun, laugh, sing, taste, taste, rejoice and enjoy life in the village!
What will we live together? A stand-up comedy show “Staying Alive” by the comedian, Katerina Vrana, a cocktail party with The Blue Sins and a unique concert by Gadjo Dilo in the village square! A chocolate workshop by pastry chef Christos Vergados, wine tasting, traditional recipes and gastronomic secrets by the women of the village and the Women’s Cotton Cooperative “Vamvakia” curated by Gianna Balafouti! An exhibition of oral stories from the Greek Countryside from Istorima, a different musical journey with the Oros Ensemble, hiking and cycling, sports activities, aromatherapy and ceramics. Old traditions will come to today with a cultural event based on the custom of marriage and “the Love of Life”, curated by our roommate Dr. Stavrou Spiliakou, accompanied by an eight-member orchestra of folk instruments, Dilberaki, with the participation of the dance club “I Pyrrichi” and the Parish Choir of Anogia.
Many surprises await the little visitors. Three of the school programs of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) will travel here, the Stadium of Life and Panagiotis Giannakis will be with us with fun programs from their three pillars (sports, education / culture, character). At the same time, there will be Robotics and 3D printing workshops, nature activities, walks and art.

A few words about Vamvakou and Vamvakou Revival
Just a few kilometers from Sparta and Tripoli, on the slopes of Lakonikos Parnonas and at an altitude of 903 m., Is a small picturesque village, Vamvakou. A group of young people with origins and strong ties with the village wanted to write a new chapter in the history and course of the place, creating, in 2018, the Vamvakou Revival organization, which implements the Cotton Revival initiative, having the moral and financial support from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (ISN). In recent years, the two organizations share a common vision that is the complete revitalization of the place, equipped with the history, human capital and natural wealth of the region. Vision is the creation of a “model” village based on the sustainable development of the place with the primary goal of the return of permanent residents. The main vehicle is the creation of employment opportunities and the provision of modern living conditions, so that in a few years Vamvakou beats again with life with families, children, and the first bell of the school rings again. Our intention is for Vamvakou to pave the way for the revival, aspiring to function as a model, so that many more villages in Greece and internationally follow.
