Street artist, auctioneer and now professor added to Banksy’s list of titles.
The University for the Creative Arts in England has announced plans to name the iconic British artist an honorary professor in recognition of his humanitarian endeavors and impact on the world art scene.
The title is merely symbolic. Banksy’s identity remains a mystery. Therefore, he will not attend the honorary professorship award, scheduled for July 6 in London during the graduation ceremony of the University students.
A university spokesman said Banksy had not directly shared his thoughts on the award, but had accepted it.
UCA wanted to inspire its current and future students through a creative form that “uses its talents to disrupt the status quo, while challenging us all to address some of the key issues of our time: war and peace, inequality and role of art as a vehicle of social expression, “said UCA President and Vice President Bashir Mahul.
