“You’re crazy, bro. When would a guy the size of Lewis Hamilton have to listen to that donkey driver? Says Emicida, followed by screams and applause from the audience.

Piquet is close to President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and came to be called a “chauffeur” after being seen driving the car that took the president at official events, such as the September 7 parade.

He used the term “nigger” several times, during an interview in November 2021, to refer to the British driver, while commenting on an accident between Hamilton and his son-in-law Max Verstappen.

In the last week, the interview returned to circulate on the internet, which condemned Piquet’s racist attitude.

In addition to the numerous criticisms, the former pilot also became the target of a complaint at the Public Ministry of the Federal District, led by the PSOL bench. The charge is to practice a crime of discrimination or prejudice.

After the episode, Hamilton spoke out and asked that “old voices” no longer have space in Formula 1. “We must not give these people a platform,” he said.

On the afternoon of last Thursday (30), Piquet justified the use of the term in a statement: “What I said was poorly thought out.” And he also writes that he “never intended to offend.”
