A few words about Mystery 23_Sine-Eleusis: IN SITU realities

Mysterio 23_Cine-Eleusis: IN SITU realities is inspired by the unique characteristics of Eleusis as an emblematic historical place but also as a modern industrial urban landscape, and focuses on the thematic axes of 2023 ELEVSIS European Capital of Culture regarding the connection between man and society and the environment.

In Eleusis, in this place of contrasts, where the inevitable reflections of the ancient and industrial past and the human mosaic of modern history meet today the necessary visions for a more ecological future, a persistent dialogue is cultivated. And it is these inherent contrasts – overt and hidden – in her body, that constantly invite and inspire every cinematic gaze that dares to run through her.

The aim of Mystery 23_Cinema-Eleusis: IN SITU realities is the transformation of Eleusis into a valuable and mysterious exhibit, through the unexpected conversation of cinema viewing with the natural setting that will host it, and the transformation of a series of screenings into site specific artistic action. The choice of films and screening locations follows the logic of visual intervention, of re-meaning a space as a welcoming point of culture.
