With a completely new “face” that changes after 15 years and “flavors” of Greece, o EOT places it even higher gastronomy on her map tourist promotion while officially entering as a country in Michelin guide. As he stated speaking to the Athenian and Macedonian News Agency, General Secretary of the EOT Dimitris Fragakis on the sidelines of the first day of the Taste of Athens, now the EOT stand at the international exhibitions will have a different image, fresher and renewed in terms of design, while in all the appearances that the Organization will make a culinary event will always be included which will literally give a taste of the unique Greek gastronomy. At the same time, after a series of actions that have been implemented for some time, the official presence of our country in the Michelin guide will be launched very soon.
“Gastronomy is for us a key pillar of our strategic promotion while at the same time it is also a priority of the Ministry of Tourism. From 2020, a special spot for gastronomy and wine is “running”, we plan and implement wine tourism events and from now on we will include a gastronomy event in each of our presences abroad”. noted Mr. Fragakis.
In the next few days, EOT will participate in the Food Festival of National Geographic Traveler which takes place in London on July 16-17 with the aim of promoting Greek gastronomy.
In London, the new EOT stand is also expected to make its first appearance in November at the international tourism exhibition World Travel Market.
Referring to the Taste of Athens gastronomy festival which opened its gates on July 7th in Zappeion and ends on Sunday, the General Secretary of the EOT emphasized that “it is the largest gastronomic event that takes place in Greece and while it takes place in Athens its aim is to highlight and businesses from all over Greece”. “It is the first time that EOT participates in the Taste of Athens and it does so for two reasons: the first that a key pillar of our promotion strategy is gastronomy and the second that it takes place in the heart of the tourist season in Athens which has a lot of tourists, who we want to see and visit”, emphasized Mr. Fragakis. “The gastronomy of the country now, centered on Athens, is becoming an even stronger brand with a leading event, which is happening for the first time, the inclusion of our country in the Micelin guide”, emphasized Mr. Fragakis.
Taste of Athens is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Municipality of Athens and ten of the top Athenian restaurants participate in their pop-up version, serving a special tasting menu with some of their signature dishes.
Top chefs, emblematic dishes, interactive events and a strong program of music and entertainment, with surprise live performances and DJ Sets, complete the festival “menu”. This year’s main thematic pillars include the circular economy, the zero-waste philosophy, as well as the strengthening of equal representation of both sexes.
On the first day of the Festival, the doors opened with a welcome reception by EOT, in the VIP Area by AEGEAN, where the guests and VIP ticket holders “landed” in the Peristyle, which was transformed into the new AEGEAN Business Lounge in the Extra Schengen area of ​​the airport of Athens.
As stated by Marina Valvi, Marketing Director of Aegean Airlines “We designed the space specifically for the event, in an effort to simulate the experience of our new Business Lounge in the non-Schengen area of ​​Athens airport.
