“Happy Days” star Anson Williams has announced that he will run for mayor in Ojai, California.
According to the Ojai Valley News, during the city council meeting Anson Williams noted that the city needs “leadership that inspires togetherness.” The mayoral candidate will face off against incumbent Betsy Stix, who is running for re-election, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The city is a tourist destination known for its hotels and recreational opportunities, while chain stores are prohibited by municipal ordinance, thus encouraging the development of local businesses.
His “Happy Days” co-star Henry Winkler, who played Fonzie on the sitcom from 1974 to 1984, publicly expressed his support for the actor and director.
Williams was one of the few to remain throughout the 11-year run and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. After the sitcom ended in 1984, he switched to directing, working on series such as Melrose Avenue, Beverly Hills, 90210, and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
