I confess that I am one of the few – perhaps – who have not seen La Casa de Papel. And I’m not saying I started it, but in the first two episodes of the first season, I got bored. But I can not say the same for some other non-English Netflix series.
On Netflix, you will find many non-English speaking series that you may not have noticed or may even skip in your search, but I can tell you for sure that they deserve more attention.
Valeria
A series full of laughter, optimism, the necessary dose of friendship but also the discovery of oneself, the two seasons of Valeria on Netflix, will compensate you with the above. The Spanish series, set in Madrid, follows four girlfriends as they move into early adulthood, from their careers to their sexual endeavors.
Starring Diana Gomez as Valeria, the series wants to learn more about the struggling writer as she tries to write a novel.
Squid Game
It is almost unlikely that you have not heard it and even more unlikely that you have not seen it. However, if you have not watched it, Squid Game has already won the title of the most popular series on Netflix, which is a huge achievement in itself, especially if you consider that it is a Korean series.
The Cook Of Castamar
For fans of the drama of the time, the proposal is The Cook Of Castmar. Based on the popular volume by Fernando J. Múñez, the Spanish series takes place in 18th century Madrid and follows the forbidden love story of a widowed duke and a young cook.
While a love affair evokes emotions, the consequences they could eventually face are far worse than the couple could have imagined.
Lupin
If you love Paris then Lupine is a must watch. A series inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupine. A man who has a mission to take revenge on his father after an injustice caused by a fairly wealthy family.
The good thing is that the shooting of the 3rd season has already started.
Caliphate
This is a television adaptation of the true story that became known as the Bethnal Green trio. The series is about three teenage girls recruited by Jihad officials they met at their school in London in February 2015, in Sweden.
