Edward Furlong plunged into a hell of methamphetamine and heroin abuse, which continued until the birth of his son Ethan and led to several arrests
He became famous at a fairly young age as John Connor in “Terminator 2” and Danny Vinyard in “American History X”, while appearing alongside Hollywood greats such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Meryl Streep, Ed Norton and Liam Neeson. At the age of 20, Mr Edward Furlong (Edward Furlong) plunged into a…hell of methamphetamine and heroin abuse, which continued until the birth of his son Ethan, now 15, and led to several arrests.
Today, nearly five years after his last run-in with the law, 44-year-old Furlong is sober and making a fresh start. A new beginning in his film career as well, as he recently completed filming in Texas with Brad Keller, producer and director who worked on the thriller “JFK”, for a project called “Charlie’s Horse”.
His new life it also includes a new set of dentures, as his had rotted away from years of meth use, and describes his new ones, which he got from Los Angeles specialists Global Implant Dentistry, as part of his… second chance!
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Mail, Furlong said:It’s great to be back on set and sober. I really enjoyed it. I like to work. We’ll see what happens». Edward Furlong says it took him a while to come to terms with the idea of having his teeth pulled and replaced, but he admits it was worth it.
The 44-year-old said:It sounds weird for me to talk about teeth because I don’t live and breathe my looks, but every time I looked at myself in the mirror, it took me out of my clothes and reminded me of what I’d done all these years. It’s nice to get a second chance».
Furlong was only 13 when the director James Cameron brought him out of obscurity to take on the central role of John Connor in ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’.”It was quite impressive. I liked the movies and had seen The Terminator, but I had no idea how it was made. I remember the first day like it was yesterday. I used to wake up at four in the morning and I really hated life.” The actor reveals that no matter how successful he appeared, he always felt that he was doing something for others. He was afraid that people would find out who he really was. “Many awesome things have happened to me, but everything has a price, nothing is free“, he added.
First came marijuana, alcohol and magic mushrooms. Then, at age 20, cocaine and heroin were added, one to help him stay awake, the other to put him to sleep. And he concludes:It’s amazing I’m still alive. It’s the bravest thing I’ve ever done in my life, not using».
