They return from Monday 20 October 2025, until Friday, July 24, 2026 the restrictive measures of vehicle traffic in the center of Athens (MIKROS DAKTYLIOS), as announced today by ELAS.
On Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays, as well as days when workers are on strike in all Public Transport, the measures do not apply.
The boundaries of MIKRO RING are defined by the following streets and avenues:
Alexandras Ave. – Zakharov – Mesogeion Ave. – Fidippidou – Michalakopoulou – Merkouri St. – Vryaxidos – Ymitou – Iliou St. – Ambr. Frantzi – Ave. Andr. Syngrou – Hamosternas – Piraeus – Iera Odos – Konstantinoupoleos Avenue – Achilleos – Pl. Karaiskaki – Karolou – Marni – 28th of October (Patesion) – Alexandras Ave.
On the border Avenues and streets of the MIKRO DAKTYLIO the restriction measures do not apply.
On the streets and avenues enclosed by the SMALL RING, only rotating traffic of I.X.E. cars, as well as trucks for private use with a maximum permissible laden vehicle mass (MAMF) of up to 2.2 tons, based on the last digit of their registration number (odd – even).
The days and hours validity of the above restrictive measures, are as follows:
– Monday to Thursday, hours 07.00 to 20.00,
– Friday, hours 07.00 to 15.00.
The violators of these restrictive measures are punished according to the provisions of par. 6 of article 55 of the Road Traffic Code.
Which vehicles are free to drive?
Regarding the vehicles that can circulate in the ring, it is pointed out by the police that the special traffic permits which had been granted by the Attica Traffic Directorate for the periods 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 are still valid.
Otherwise, according to the police announcement, the vehicles of the categories that are exempt from the restrictions, as well as the vehicles of the categories that are required to be equipped with special permits, which are granted by the Attica Traffic Directorate, according to the provisions of No. 169743 from 17-10-2025 (Government 5565, item B) of the Joint Ministerial Decision.
In particular, the principals and/or owners:
– From the manufacture of purely electric vehicles, as well as from the manufacture of hybrid electric vehicles and from the manufacture of natural gas and LPG vehicles,
– EURO 6 cars, except for the above drive technologies, as long as they emit less than 120g/km of carbon dioxide (combined cycle value, according to the New European Driving Cycle/NEDC), which were registered for the first time in a member state of the European Union until 31-12-2020,
– EURO 6 cars other than the above drive technologies, as long as they emit less than 145g/km of carbon dioxide (combined cycle value according to the Worldwide Light Test Procedure/WLTP), which were registered for the first time in a member state of the European Union from 1-1-2021 and from now on, they can print a special sign for their exceptional traffic in the center of Athens, electronically through the Unified Digital Portal of the Public Administration (gov.gr) either in paper form or in electronic form registered on a mobile phone.
For the vehicles of permanent residents inside the SMALL RING, special entry-exit zones are provided and a special card is issued by the competent Services of the Municipality of Athens.
Applications for the issuance of special traffic permits can be submitted from Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 14:00 at the headquarters of the Attica Traffic Directorate [Θ. a) Traffic Permit of the vehicle.
b) Driving License of the drivers.
c) Valid Technical Inspection Certificate (K.T.E.O.).
d) Valid insurance policy.
