Close to construction completion faithful copies of two of the sculptures of the Parthenon which are exposed to British museum is the Institute for Digital Archaeology, as its head Roger Michael told the New York Times.

It is a replica of a horse’s head from a pediment of the Parthenon and a representation of a Centaur battle from the southern front of the temple, created by a robotic machine in a laboratory in Carrera, Italy.

The copies they are made with Pentelic marble with the technique of 3D machining, based on digital photographs taken of the sculptures by the institute’s team, based in Oxford.

According to Mr. Michael, the copies they could be exhibited somewhere in London within this month, although lawyers say the British Museum may try to block that exhibition because the photographs used by the group were not taken with special permission.

“Our sole purpose is to encourage the repatriation of Elginian marbles. When two people want the same piece of cake, baking a second whole cake is an obvious solution.”said Mr. Michael.
