What are bodytapes and why they will replace bras

by

There’s only one downside to summer clothes, and that’s the sometimes annoying bra. But does the solution now come with bodytapes?

Like every summer, summer dresses are reclaiming their place as the centerpiece of our wardrobe.

Regardless of your preference, strapless, backless, maxi or perhaps, this year’s trend which is cutouts. The simple summer dress offers stylish dressing, transitioning easily from brunch to the bar.

There’s only one downside to summer clothes, and that’s the sometimes annoying bra.

And while some women may be brave enough to throw the bra out of their summer wardrobe, for others it’s just not an option.

Not wanting to avoid slinky and strappy pieces, we have a few alternatives: band-covers as bras.

Although they have never been very popular despite their ergonomics in the summer, there are new product lines that have been released, as well as older – now classic -, that offer solutions for looks especially in the summer.

If you know you have a very sensitive skin type, just do a little test with the tape on either your chest or your arm.” Band-aids are usually hypoallergenic and latex-free, but you’ll want to be sure it won’t cause irritation, especially if it’s going to be stuck to your skin for many hours.

For plunging necklines or silhouettes with a wide opening below the sternum, a bust band can be used to create a lifted bust shape without visible bra lines. Start by holding your chest in the desired position. Once set, apply the first strip of tape starting under the bust (about where the bra might be), following it along the curve of your bust, pulling as needed to hold the bust in the chosen position.

Subsequent strips can run vertically along the outside of the bust, pressing slightly inward to create cleavage while smoothing the band along the curve of your body for a natural shape and hold. You can optionally apply a piece vertically next to the nipple piece, closer to the breastbone, to define your shape. In total, you will probably use two to four strips to create a secure application.

How to remove it

Although body tape is not difficult to apply, the removal process is a whole other story. First, don’t try to tear it off like a bandage, because it can cause unnecessary damage to the skin. (Also, it hurts a lot). Instead, soak a cotton ball or cotton swab in body oil, olive oil, or petroleum jelly, then rub it over and under the free edge of the tape to loosen the adhesive. You can also soak the tape in warm, soapy water in the shower, which is especially helpful if the tape is difficult to remove.

Once the tape is removed, it’s important to moisturize your skin. Moisturizing the skin with the oil-based product or petroleum jelly as the tape is removed will help soothe and heal the skin. Be sure to apply a generous amount of body oils or petroleum jelly after removing the tape to help the skin heal and repair.
