The National Opera and the “Together for the Child” Association present for the first time in Greece the great opera star Sonia Yonceva, who will give a unique recital at the Stavros Niarchos Hall, with excerpts from Giacomo Puccini’s operas. The recital is held on the occasion of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the Association “Together for the Child”, which works for the well-being of children, young people and families facing poverty, disability, abuse and illness.

The vocalist Sonia Yoncheva has been recognized as one of the most acclaimed and fascinating performers of her generation. After studying piano and vocals in her hometown, Plovdiv, alongside Nelly Koicheva, earned her master’s degree in Geneva, studying with Daniel Borst. Sonia is a graduate of William Christie’s Le Jardin des Voix academy.

Highlights of her career include Tosca and Othello’s new productions at the New York Metropolitan Opera, where she also played the title role in Louisa Miller, Traviata and Yolanda, as well as Mimi in Bohemia and Giola. She also played the title role in the operas Norma (new production) and Traviata, Margarita in Faust, Antonia in Hoffmann Tales, Mikaela in Carmen, Mimi and Musette in Bohem on the stage of Covent Garden of Vasilik. . He starred in Pirate (new direction) and Bohem (Mimi) at La Scala in Milan, at the Crown of Poppaia (new production) at the Salzburg Film Festival, in new productions of Medea and Traviata at the Berlin State Opera, and by Don Carlos of Bohemia and Yolanda at the Paris Opera, where he also appeared in Traviata and Lucia di Lammermour.

He recently sang Tosca at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and at the Berlin State Opera, Violetta (Traviata) at the Florence May Music Festival, Medea at the Berlin State Opera and Mimi (Boehm) in Boehne (Boehm). He has also sung Pirates at the Real Theater in Madrid, Othello in Baden-Baden and Berlin, Yolanda and Othello at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. He also participated in the opening gala of the 2020/21 artistic season at La Scala in Milan, in a Christmas concert under the President of the Federal Republic of Germany which was broadcast on German television at the Rolex Eternal Music Gala in Berlin, as well as the 2020 Paris Concert in gala and solo concerts in Salzburg, Madrid, Monte Carlo, Budapest, Mexico City, Verona and Antwerp.

“Together for the Child” is an Association of non-profit associations and institutions that have been working since 1996 for the welfare of children, young people and families facing poverty, disability, abuse and illness.
