With temperatures soaring in the UK and parts of Europe, fans of the show have shared a number of snaps from old episodes that ‘predicted’ the heat wave.
‘The Simpsons’ fans joke that the animated comedy ‘predicted’ record heat which afflicts the United Kingdom these days.
The country is in the midst of an extreme weather phenomenon that has caused the highest temperatures ever recorded and in some areas the thermometer showed on July 19 up to 43 degrees Celsius.
The Simpsons have become famous for their ability to predict world news events – from the invention of smartwatches to the election of Donald Trump as US president.
With temperatures soaring in the UK and parts of Europe, fans of the show have shared a number of snaps from old episodes that ‘predicted’ the heat wave.
Several Twitter users posted a clip from the season six episode “Bart of Darkness”, in which Hans Mollemann comes out of his house and says hello to ‘Mr Sun’, before setting himself on fire in the heat.
Others shared clips from the Season 13 finale “Poppa’s Got a Brand New Badge,” which opens with a heat wave hitting Springfield.
“The Simpsons predicted this,” wrote one fan of the series alongside a clip from the episode which shows ink melting from a newspaper whose front page reads: “The heat wave continues.”
“The Simpsons predicted EVERYTHING” commented another fan.
