The concert in honor of the bouzouki master will take place on September 12 at the Kallimarmaro Panathenaic Stadium by Toti Mazi Borome.
By Korina Georgiou
The inexhaustible virtuoso, the original dude, o stormy master of the bouzouki. A torrent that did not hesitate to be outspoken and provocative, but at the same time a sensitive and conservative family man. Unconventional but also God-fearing… the candle that was always burning in the iconostasis of the house gave him strength.
From his first contact with the bouzouki at the age of 6 in his father’s barbershop until the end of his life, George Zampetas he united his soul with the strains of popular music and lived with them in one body.

He was born on January 25, 1925 in Athens. He composed his first song in a school competition at the end of first grade in 1932. The other children recited poems, but he went on stage with his father’s bouzouki and won first prize, the first gold record, as the own. Since then, he has composed more than 250 songs that deeply permeated the Greek DNA and marked entire generations. The charismatic Giorgos Zampetas has passed into immortality through his iconic songs. A legend that marks our past, present and future.
