The truth is that we expected an impressive performance from Slipknot, but what we experienced probably exceeded all expectations.
On Saturday 23 July we celebrated the end of its longest edition in the best way Release Athens. Six separate bands took the stage and offered six unforgettable concert experiences. The opening of the day belonged to two Athenian groups who have won a loyal audience thanks to the intensity of their performances and the quality of their recordings.
The truth is that we expected an impressive performance from them Slipknot but what we experienced probably exceeded all expectations. The nine-member group from Iowa is, without any doubt, one of the best live acts on the planet, even more so when underneath they have a sea of people who came to “break them” and follow every breath and every word that came out of ‘the mouth of a highly trained Corey Taylor. “Disaster piece”, “Sulfur”, “Psychosocial”, “Duality” are just a few of the outstanding songs we heard yesterday, with a special moment of course “Spit it Out”, with Taylor convincing the audience to sit down until to hear the slogan “Jump the Fuck Up”.
With the last notes of “Surfacing” we reached the end of the twelfth day of the festival and this great celebration of metal was also the impressive closing of Release Athens 2022.
However, on the heat of the moment there were also minor accidents.
Lead singer Corey Taylor appeared to hit his leg as he began limping in the last three songs. And he wasn’t the only one. Tortilla Man doing a backflip in the air on stage, landed awkwardly and hit his leg.
On the other hand, a few minutes before the start of the concert, the drummer hit his eye with the baguette and as he revealed in the first days of the concert, he could not see very well to play.
“Funny story. Five minutes before the concert, while warming up with the others, I accidentally hit my eye hard with the baguette and couldn’t see well for a while. After a few songs luckily my vision cleared so thank you for the good vibes that definitely helped”Jay wrote along with a video of the concert opening with Disasterpiece.
