Celebrity real estate is buzzing this week. Two great actors, Matt Damon, 51, and Brad Pitt, 58, made multi-million purchases of real estate – including even a historic castle in their acquisitions.
Damon bought a property in Westchester, New York, in the US, worth US$ 8.5 million (about R$ 45.4 million at the current price). The property is a colonial mansion, built in mid-2004, and has a large green area, salt water pool, lagoon with spring, trails and even rope bridges.
The house is 670 square meters, with four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a half bath, as well as stone terraces for all rooms, and the master suite also houses a private spa. In addition, the house has a gym, greenhouse, tennis court and an old barn, according to the New York Post website.
The heartthrob Brad Pitt acquired a castle for the value of US$ 40 million (about R$ 213.4 million). Entitled Carmel House, the historic building is on the coast of California, also in the United States. The property was built over a century ago by architect Charles Greene, inspired by Tintagel in Cornwall, England.
The 1918 building was once inhabited by writer Daniel Lewis James, who inherited it from his father Kansas DL James. More recently, Chicago financier Joe Ritchie purchased the castle, but he passed away earlier this year, leaving the property without an owner.
According to the American website The Wall Street Journal, the house was not even put up for sale on the real estate market, being negotiated directly with the Hollywood star.
