It is special and unique and attracts several visitors every year. After all, who could not be impressed when they learn that in the area of ​​the beaches of Larissa there is a special location, just a few meters from the sea, where red water springs from the earth?
It is about the settlement “Red Water” which is located on the coast of the municipality of Agia in the prefecture of Larissa, in the shadow of Kissavos.
The Red Water of Larissa is an extension of the mountain village of Karitsa and is a coastal settlement built in ravines.
It is located at a distance of 19 km from Agiokambos and 70 km from Larissa.
The name of the settlement is due to the thermal springs that exist and which gush out red water, due to the mineral salts it contains.

Specifically, the Greek State and the Ministry of Tourism, with a gazette published in November 2019, states among other things: “The natural resource is characterized and identified as: cold, metallic, weakly ferrous, oxycarbonate, strongly carbonaceous, hypotonic, calcareous magnesium.
Method of use: Bath therapy, Positherapy.
Medicinal properties: Indications: Rheumatic diseases, sciatica, back pain, nervous system diseases. Diseases of the urinary, gastrointestinal system and iron deficiency anemia. Contraindications: heart disease, edema, lower limbs, coronary disease, cerebral hemorrhages or vessel thrombosis, malignant neoplasms, fever, nervous and mental diseases, active tuberculosis, pregnancy after the sixth month.
It is worth noting that projects are being built in the area for the utilization of water and typical examples are the swimming pools, where the visitor can feel the experience of bath therapy.
As the responsible deputy mayor of Agia, Nikos Dagas, pointed out to APE-MBE, “the results of the thermal springs for the region are very important and attract many tourists every year”. At the same time, he noted that efforts have recently been made to build, among other things, a space that ensures all the specifications provided by the EOT by providing important services to visitors.
“We are in the process of finding a place according to the specifications of the EOT that will be provided to the guests interested in the bath therapy from the thermal springs, all the comforts. A place that will provide an information room, changing rooms, toilets, etc., so that visitors can enjoy all the necessary comforts for the spa therapy”.
Every year visitors arrive in Kokkino Nero both from Greece and abroad, with Polish tourists particularly preferring the area for their holidays.
