Celso Portiolli tells about the desire to leave SBT: ‘I want to live abroad’

Presenter Celso Portiolli, 55, revealed that the idea of ​​leaving SBT is maturing. In an interview with “O Pod É Nosso”, hosted by Carlos Alberto de Nóbrega and Renata de Nóbrega, he told about the plan to take a sabbatical in 2026 to live outside Brazil for a while. But, Portiolli admitted that his contract with the network ends at the end of this year, he can bring the project forward.

“My ‘contract’ ends in three months and anything can happen”, said Portiolli. “I want to live abroad for a while. Stop for a year, take a gap year. But it’s not to be idle, I wanted to study, study a language and spend more time with my family,” added the presenter.

Celso stated that it is still not possible to stop working as the company has not yet built up enough assets. “For my children, I can’t stop working yet,” acknowledged Portiolli, who has been in charge of “Domingo Legal” since 2009.

Celso also spoke about the discovery of bladder cancer in 2021. He said that he was always very careful with his health, and that the diagnosis came after performing a simple exam. Celso recalled the moment he left the hospital and received a call while still in the doctor’s parking lot. “Later, with Dr. Hélio Cruz, he said he saw a polyp in the bladder. The doctor told me that it had to be urgently removed. It was cancer. My world fell apart”, he confessed.

According to the presenter, he underwent surgery and was soon fine: “I always had a lot of check-up, I always took care of myself. I went for a simple exam. I don’t want a better program, I don’t want more hours, I don’t want more money.; The only thing I want is to be with my children. The only thing I ask for is health and nothing else”, concluded the presenter.
