Warner Bros “killed” Batgirl: In the drawer the new movie that was… ready

by

Filming on Batgirl, which has been completed, cost Warner more than $90 million.

Warner Bros. Discovery… ‘killed off’ Batgirl. The movie Batgirl starring actors Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser will not be seen on the big screen according to a surprise announcement from the studio, despite the fact that filming has already wrapped and the film is in the final stages of production.

Filming on Batgirl, which has been completed, cost Warner more from 90 million dollars.

However, in an exclusive report by the New York Post, which cited an unnamed source as saying that the budget had actually exceeded the 100 million dollars and that the film was so poorly received during early test screenings that Warner Bros. decided to cut its losses.

The move comes amid a leadership shakeup following Warner Bros’ merger with Discovery in May 2021.

The Variety
noted that this decision was “considered internally as the most financially sound way to recover costs”.

Several shows including Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, The Last OG and Chad have been canceled following the Warner Bros Discovery merger, while a DC Comics Wonder Twins movie that was in production has also been canceled according to the Guardian article.
