With the death of presenter Jô Soares, an interview by the also comedian to the program Provoca (TV Cultura), by Marcelo Tas, returned to social media. In the excerpt, Jô talks about death and claims not to fear it.
“I’m not afraid of death, I’m afraid – I’ve always been, by the way – it’s of being unproductive. Now of dying? I’ve lived 82 years, I just hope to die like this… It’s over, spent, erased the ‘Gaslight'”, he said, in the conversation that aired in March 2020.
“When the time comes for God to say to you ‘not wanting to interrupt you, but already interrupting you’ and take you to stay there with him, what memory do you hope you have left?”, Tas then asked. “Joy,” replied Jo.
“More profoundly, leaving hope in some people, that I was able to contribute to the improvement of some people”, added the presenter, who commanded the Programa do Jô, on Rede Globo for 16 years.
The presenter and comedian Jô Soares died in the early hours of this Friday (5), at the age of 84. He was hospitalized at Hospital Sírio Libanês, in São Paulo. The death was confirmed by his ex-partner, Flávia Pedras Soares, but the cause has not yet been disclosed.
