Willow Smith has spoken out about her father Will Smith’s infamous slap to Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards for the first time since the incident.
The 21-year-old singer and Emmy nominee said in an interview with the music magazine “Billboard” that it did not shake her as much as her inner demons.
“I see my whole family as human and I love and accept them for all their humanity,” she told the publication. “Because of the position we are in, our humanity is sometimes not accepted and we are expected to act in a way that is not conducive to a healthy human life and is not conducive to being honest.”
At the same time, as she stated, the slap, which went viral worldwide, did not affect her creative process.
It is recalled that at the 2022 Academy Awards, Will Smith slapped host Rock after the comedian made a comment about the shaved head of his wife Jada Pinkett Smith who suffers from hair loss due to the autoimmune condition alopecia.

Will Smith has finally apologized for slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars and revealed that the comedian still hasn’t forgiven him.
The actor posted a video on Instagram on Friday in which he said he was “confused” by the entire incident and therefore did not apologize to The Rock.
“I tried to talk to Chris and his message was that he’s not ready to talk when he is, he’s going to reach out.”
“So I’ll tell you, Chris, that I apologize. My behavior was unacceptable and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”
He also apologized to Rock’s mother and his entire family.
“I just didn’t realize how many people were hurt at the time, so I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I want to apologize”
Smith even said that his wife Jada didn’t tell him to slap Rock and that he takes full responsibility for what happened.
It’s worth noting that Smith mentioned that he slapped Rock thinking about their “prehistory”.
