The close and creative relationship between Greece and the USA, in all sectors, as well as in Culture, was confirmed in meeting that the Minister of Culture and Sports had today, Lina Mendoni and the US Ambassador, George Tsounis.
Among the topics that occupied the meeting were: the specialization of the action plan for Culture, in view of the 4th cycle of the Greece-US Strategic Dialogue. In this context, the international seminar organized in Athens, in September, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the American Embassy, ​​focused on the effects of the climate crisis on cultural heritage – tangible and intangible – and the fight against the illegal trafficking of antiquities and works of art . The aim of the organization is to be the model for similar international events, given the international initiatives undertaken by our country, in both fields. As part of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries, to impose import restrictions on various categories of cultural goods in the US, I was discussedn the proposals for the organization of the archaeological exhibitionsprepared by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in the major cities of the United States.
