The former supermodel asked the Los Angeles Superior Court last Wednesday to throw out the divorce petition. A few hours after the news of the development, it became known that the couple has settled the issue of divorce out of court and “remain good friends”, according to the “Daily Mail”.
A spokesman for Mr Murdoch issued a statement on behalf of the former couple. “Jerry Hall and Rupert Murdoch have finalized their divorce. They remain good friends and wish each other the best for the future,” the announcement reads, among other things.
It is worth noting that it was the fourth marriage for Rupert Murdoch, whose fortune reaches the astronomical sum of 14 billion pounds, while for Jerry Hall, typically, it is the first marriage, after 22 years of relationship – and four children – with Mick Jagger. The couple had married the Rolling Stones frontman on a beach in Bali in 1990, but the wedding was annulled after they split in 1999.
It is not known if the couple had signed a prenuptial agreement. However, the media mogul appears to have made such a move with his third wife, Wendy Deng. Murdoch’s businesses include Sky TV and the Sun and Times newspapers. He also owns the US television network Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, along with various businesses in his native Australia.
Murdoch met Hall in Australia in 2015. After weeks of speculation about whether they were finally together, their relationship became public and made official at the Rugby World Cup final in Twickenham, London. The mogul was photographed kissing Hall on the cheek as she smiled.
They made their first appearance together on the red carpet at the Golden Globes in 2016. As friends of the couple said at the time: “Rupert couldn’t be happier. He doesn’t act like a wizened old man in love with a teenage girl. He just looks very, very happy. It’s a wonderful thing.”
