Singer Michelle Branch was arrested for domestic violence on Thursday night (11) in Nashville, United States. She admitted to having assaulted her then husband Patrick Carney with a few slaps in the face after confessing to a recent betrayal. Branch was eventually taken to the police station.
Michelle and The Black Keys drummer have been together for five years and are the parents of a 4-year-old boy Rhys James and a 6-month-old girl, Willie Jacquet. Branch’s bail was set at $1,000 and she was reportedly released from custody even before payment because of her daughter’s breastfeeding. A representative for the Nashville Police Department confirmed the singer’s episode to Rolling Stone magazine.
The confusion between the couple happened after the singer announced the end of their marriage hours before. She accused her husband of cheating on her with her manager, Haley McDonald, on Twitter, but deleted the post. It didn’t take long for the news to spread in the celebrity world.
In a statement to People magazine, Michelle Branch confirmed the betrayal and commented: “Saying I’m totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel about myself and my family. The rug has been completely pulled out from under me and now I need to find out. how to move forward. With children so young, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
