The photo exhibition of the photographer’s Agioreitiki Hestia, Nikos Koukis, entitled “Mount Athos. Life of the desert” will be inaugurated on Thursday, August 18, at 7 pm, at the Cultural Center of Saint Theodoros in Imbros in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
The exhibition is organized by the Holy Metropolis of Imbro and Tenedos in collaboration with the Agioreitiki Estia of Thessaloniki and with the support of the Imbrian Union of Macedonia – Thrace and presents photographic material from Nikos Kouki’s pilgrimage to Mikra Agia Anna, a place of practice of major forms of the Agioreite retreat, which he held in 1994, on the occasion of the celebration of the hut of the Holy Forerunner.
The Thessalonian photographer “captures” with his lens snapshots of the religious and daily life of the monks, of the preparation of the Agioritei festival, of the journey of the pilgrims to their destination.
The exhibition is part of the anniversary celebratory program of the Diocese of Imvrio and Tenedo on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Bartholomeus Koutloumousianos of Imvrio (December 22, 1722) and will last until September 30.
