“Mount Athos. Life of the desert” – Opening on August 18 for the photography exhibition of Nikos Koukis in Imbro

At the Cultural Center of Agios Theodoros in Imbro, in the presence of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the photography exhibition of Nikos Koukis entitled “Mount Athos. Life of the desert”, from the Holy Metropolis of Imbro and Tenedos in collaboration with the Agioreitiki Estia of Thessaloniki and with the support of the Imbrian Union of Macedonia – Thrace.

The exhibition presents photographic material from Nikos Kouki’s journey to Little Saint Anna, a place of practice of the great forms of the Agioritean asceticism, which he held in 1994, on the occasion of the celebration of the hut of the Holy Forerunner. The photographic lens captures fleeting moments from the religious and daily life of the monks, from the preparation of the holy festival, from the journey of the pilgrims to their destination.

Nikos Koukis, musician in the State Orchestra, has been involved in artistic photography since 1978. He has held eleven personal exhibitions, participated in many group exhibitions, has published four photo albums with his personal work, while his photos are also in many collective exhibitions city ​​scrapbooks.

The exhibition, which was curated by the director of the Holy Home, Anastasios Douros, is included in the anniversary celebration program of the Diocese of Imvrio and Tenedo on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Bartholomeus Koutloumousianos of Imvrio (December 22, 1722).
