Can you imagine spending a few years believing you were Michael Jackson’s daughter? So it is. This happened to Caroline Dallarosa. Arminda’s interpreter in “Beyond Illusion” had this in her head for years as a child because of her own mother. She had invented the story because of a drama in the actress’s head: the absence of her biological father.
“She arrived and said: ‘Daughter, do you know why your father is not very present? Because you are not his daughter, you are Michael Jackson’s daughter. You know that clip of him with the Brazilian flag? So, he came to Brazil, Mom met him and we fell in love. We had you, but Mom didn’t want this life of fame for you. So we stayed here in Brazil and he came back there. Michael likes you a lot'” , says the actress, today, laughing with the episode.
Caroline still remembers that the whole plot made sense at the time because the family was a big fan and she grew up listening to all the records and seeing the singer’s clips. “I must have been four or five years old, it all made sense in my head. My mother took a long time to deny it. I even said that at school and everyone kept calling me a liar”, she admits.
Michael Jackson, one of the greatest artists in the history of world music, died in June 2009, aged 50. The official cause was acute intoxication with propofol and benzodiazepine, a combination of two strong tranquilizers. The singer came to Brazil three times. The first, when he was 16, during the Jackson Five tour of Latin America, in 1974. Then, with the tour of the album “Dangerous” and he played two shows at Morumbi Stadium, São Paulo, in 1993, and the last three years then to record the music video “They Don’t Care About Us”.
