Princess in fiction, but Cinderella in real life. That’s the story of Milly Alcock, 22, who gained attention as a young Rhaenyra Targaryan in the series “House of the Dragon”, which premiered Sunday night (21) on HBO.

The Australian actress said that, despite having been doing some work as an actress, especially on TV in her home country, she couldn’t support herself with her art until recently. Therefore, she had to resort to other jobs to supplement her income.

What was she doing before getting the role in one of the most talked about series of the moment? She was washing dishes in a restaurant, while waiting for her big break. “I never imagined this would happen to me,” she told the Australian version of the Daily Telegraph.

“I was washing dishes in a restaurant, living in my mom’s attic,” he revealed. “That kind of thing doesn’t happen to people like me, it was all too fast.”

The actress said she was at friends’ house, cooking dinner, when she got the call from her agent telling her she had gotten the part. “I froze, took a deep breath and asked my friend, ‘Do you have wine?’. Then I called my mother.”

Alcock also said that he dropped out of school to pursue an artistic career. “It was either sitting around taking tests in the Australian outback or dropping out of school, so I dropped out, not least because I was never very good at it.”
