Felipe Neto declares vote for Lula: ‘The demand will be great, as it has to be’

Youtuber and influencer Felipe Neto, 34, one of the most influential people in Brazil, declared this Thursday (25) his vote for former president Luís Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the first round of this year’s elections. The statement was shared by the influencer on Twitter.

He said he chose Lula to defeat the “genocidal monster” – referring to President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) – that has destroyed Brazil over the past four years. “For the end of fear, hunger, denialism and incompetence. I declare my vote for Lula 13 in the first round of the elections for the presidency of Brazil”, he wrote on Twitter.

Neto said he will charge Lula if he is elected. “My support is for the hope of returning to being a country that grows, but the demands will be great, as it has to be with anyone,” he added.

With 44.4 million followers on YouTube, 14.8 million on Twitter and 16 million on Instagram, Neto has established himself as one of the main voices of anti-bolsonarism and anti-conservatism. In 2019, he purchased and distributed 14,000 LGBT-themed books for free at the event, earning points with progressive audiences.

The influencer has also become one of the biggest advocates of people attacked by supporters of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). In May of this year, he defended chef Paola Carosella, 49, the target of attacks by Bolsonaristas after she pointed out two reasons that would hinder relations with those who support the current president of Brazil: “Because he’s an asshole, or because he’s stupid” . Neto stated that it was not the first time that something of this nature had happened. “Once again they sent heavy threats to my mother. We are already taking action.
