“She felt like she was in danger,” reveals Ed Perkins, director of new HBO documentary “The Princess”
Princess Diana impressed the British royal family, even Queen Elizabeth.
“Diana was the first person to shake the ‘cage’ of the monarchy”the Queen’s biographer tells People, Ingrid Seward, in this week’s issue, which looks back at Diana’s legacy 25 years after her tragic death on August 31, 1997.
“I don’t think Diana deliberately tried to change the family,” adds Seward, who knew Diana personally. “He did it because that’s the way it was.”
The Queen has been criticized for remaining silent in the days following Princess Diana’s death.
“She felt she was in danger,” says Ed Perkins, director of the new HBO documentary “The Princess.”
On the evening of September 5, the monarch finally addressed the nation in a rare televised address. Despite her usual stoic nature, Queen Elizabeth seemed to realize she needed to express emotion…following Princess Diana’s example.
