In particular, the following are foreseen:
– The supply of special equipment for the maintenance laboratory for film repair, material study, scanning, electronic data processing (EDP), digital restoration, color correction and mastering.
– The upgrading of two existing spaces of the Film Archive of Greece to convert them into specialized workshops.
– The pilot restoration of two films.
– The training of personnel in all individual phases of the restoration works.
With the decision of the Ministry of Culture to include this project in the Recovery Fund “beyond the obvious importance for the preservation and promotion of the film stock, the specialized laboratory will create jobs and new specialties, in the rapidly growing field of conservation and restoration of film films” it says the relevant announcement of the Ministry of the Interior. “In addition, Greek cinematographic works, which due to the poor quality of their materials cannot be shown, after their digital and physical restoration, will become accessible to the public again, both in international festivals and in cinemas.”
