by

The BFI London Film Festival will run from 5 to 15 October 2022.

The 66th BFI London Film Festival will host the world premiere of Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. Based on the classic tale by Carlo Collodi, it is set in 1930, during the rise of fascism in Italy, where a wooden puppet comes to life to heal the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto.

The film will be screened at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall. The famous Italian fairy tale has had quite an impact on Del Toro, who stated that “no other art form has influenced my life and career as much as animation, and no character in history has connected with me as deeply and personally as the Pinocchio”. He signs the direction together with Mark Gustafson (Mark Gustafson) in a script written by him and Patrick McHale (Patrick McHale).

The BFI London Film Festival will run from 5 to 15 October 2022.
