The family of a US military man who died in combat last year, sued actor Alec Baldwin, 64, last Friday (26). Rylee McCollum’s family accuses the artist of inciting violence against Roice, the soldier’s sister, on his social media.
According to The New York Post, the McCollum family is seeking compensation of US$ 25 million, about R$ 130 million, at the current price. Baldwins and the McCollums also began their relationship last year, shortly after the death of Rylee, victim of an attack at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
The star would have sent a check for US$ 5,000, about R$ 26,000, to the military’s widow, as a tribute to his memory. However, he would have regretted seeing a publication by Roice in which she was in favor of the invasion by Donald Trump supporters of the US Capitol in Whasington.
“When I sent the money to your late brother, out of respect for his services to the country, I didn’t know you were a January 6th protester. Your activities resulted in the regrettable destruction of government property, the death of a bailiff, in attacking a legitimate presidential election,” the actor wrote in a message to Roice.
Furthermore, the artist shared Roice’s post. The family alleges that she has since been the target of “hostile, aggressive and hateful messages”, and has been accused of being involved with Nazi groups. The McCollums also claim that they have been under pressure to return the R$26,000 donated by Baldwin.
