Queen Elizabeth: Health rumors ‘fire’ – Sends Charles to Highland Games

by

Earlier in the week a Palace spokesman said the Queen would swear in the country’s new prime minister at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle rather than Buckingham Palace

The 96-year-old Queen Elizabeth will not be attending the Highland Games, Scotland’s most popular event, this weekend, a Buckingham Palace source said today.

The same source added that the decision was made based on what would be most convenient for her and that the heir to the throne, Prince Charles, will attend as planned.

The event in the town of Braemar, 96.5km west of Aberdeen, which has been held in some form for 900 years, has always been attended by the king or queen and members of the royal family since 1848, according to organisers.

Earlier in the week a Palace spokesman said the Queen would swear in the country’s new prime minister at Scotland’s Balmoral Castle rather than Buckingham Palace in London due to mobility issues.
