Actor Alec Baldwin, 63, deleted his main Twitter account a few days after his first interview about the tragedy that occurred on the film set for the movie “Rust”. The conversation took place with George Stephanopoulos, from the ABC channel.
According to Deadline, the account @AlecBaldwin was removed from the social network and when searching, the message “this account does not exist” appears. However, his secondary account, named @AlecBaldwIn__, remains active even though it has not been used for over a year.
The artist tweeted most of the main profile, and the account was used to publish his first statement about the tragedy that occurred on October 21st. Baldwin fired the shot that fatally wounded the film’s director of photography, Halyna Hutchins, who later died in hospital.
He had deleted the profile several times, including during the controversy over his wife Hilaria Baldwin’s Spanish heritage. The actor’s reps did not immediately respond to Deadline’s request for comment.
Recently, the artist spoke for the first time to the press about the fatal accident at the filming location of the movie “Rust”. In an interview, the actor claims that he did not pull the trigger on the gun. “The trigger wasn’t pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger, never,” he said.
Baldwin was astonished at the presence of live ammunition on a cinematic set. When asked how the bullet got there, he replies, “I have no idea. Someone put a real bullet in the gun. A bullet that shouldn’t even be on that property.”
He also gets emotional when talking about Halyna Hutchins, who he describes as “someone who was loved by everyone who worked with her, adored and admired by everyone”. “So far, it’s hard to believe it happened. It doesn’t seem real to me,” he says of what happened.
Alec Baldwin and the production of “Rust” face two lawsuits related to the shooting, both filed by staff members. One calls the actor’s use of the weapon as “negligent”, and the other demands reparations for “intentional damage” and “emotional stress” caused by the incident.
