Linda Evangelista returns to the catwalks after having her face deformed by surgery

Canadian supermodel Linda Evangelista, 57, has made her triumphant return to fashion after a six-year absence due to an adverse reaction to a fat-freezing procedure that she claims left her face “unrecognizable”.

On Friday, the Canadian model made her first runway appearance in 15 years at the Fendi show at New York Fashion Week. She walked the runway near the end of the show wearing a blue taffeta dress by Tiffany, a baguette bag by Fendi with a silver print and matching silver metallic gloves.

With her dark braids pulled back in a sleek look, Evangelista showcased the poise and charm that propelled her to the top of the industry for years after her 1984 debut.

From the looks and sounds of the reaction of those present and their colleagues on stage, Evangelista’s return to the catwalk after 15 years was a resounding success. And for a woman who has literally been in seclusion for six years, that must be a huge confidence boost.

In August, she appeared on the cover of the British edition of Vogue magazine for the first time since she said she was “deformed” by a cosmetic procedure gone wrong.

In the photos, tape and rubber bands were used to pull her face, jaw and neck back, hiding the problems caused by the side effect of cryolipolysis to reduce body fat.

“That’s not my jaw and neck in real life — and I can’t walk around with duct tape and rubber bands everywhere,” he said. “I’m trying to love myself as I am,” she told BBC News Brazil.
