The beginning of the music career of singer Paula Fernandes, 38, was not easy. In an interview with the podcast Papo com Clê, she confided that she suffered from depression and that it made her think the worst.
“I left [de casa] I was 11 years old and went to São Paulo. When I was almost 18 it was enough. I went into depression and chose the window I was going to jump out of. My mother saved me. ‘If you jump first, I’ll jump with you because I can’t stand being without you'”, recalled the mother’s speech.
According to the artist, she didn’t have any money at the time and she hadn’t gotten any work yet. So, she decided to return to Minas Gerais depressed and frustrated. She also lost seven pounds and her hair was falling out. To make matters worse, her mother had separated from her father.
The cure only came from the moment he realized that it was a serious illness. “I needed to see a psychiatrist and it wasn’t crazy. And my family would say, ‘Paula went crazy.’ I spent the whole day shaking on the couch,” she said.
At the end of August, the singer suffered a serious car accident on the Presidente Castello Branco highway, in São Paulo, on the eve of her 38th birthday. She, who was accompanied by her boyfriend Rony Cecconello, had minor injuries.
“I still don’t really know how I am, I just know that I’m alive and that yesterday I was reborn. This shocking image [do carro capotado] represents the hardest day of my life, when I thought it would be the end of us”, said the singer in a text published on Instagram.
