Mônica Bergamo: Jojo Todynho says that meritocracy does not exist for blacks: ‘We don’t even have the basics’

by

The singer Jojo Todynho posed for the September print edition of Glamor Brasil magazine. In the interview, she talks about aesthetic standards, racism and being an inspiration to other women.

“Spotlight can’t shine just for standard women, I think we’re reaching a retraction, taking a rightful place. Meritocracy doesn’t exist for us blacks. We don’t even have the basics to get where we want”, she says.

Jojo adds that she takes racial literacy classes to talk about the topic “more properly.”

“My dream is to go to college, psychology and then law. No one can take that away from us.”

Actress Isadora Cruz, protagonist of “Mar do Sertão” (Globo), and influencer and actress Jade Picon posed for other versions of the cover of Glamor magazine in September.
