South Korean Lee Jong-jae won the best actor award for his performance in Squid Game.

The Emmy Awards for the best television series and the actors who stood out in the past year were awarded again this year in a glittering evening at the Microsoft Theater, in Los Angeles.

Best actor

Netflix was vindicated again this year after South Korean Lee Jong-jae won the award for best actor in a TV drama series for his performance in Squid Game, the platform’s global hit.

In fact, Lee Jong-jae became the first winner of this award for a non-English speaking performance.

Best Series

However, HBO’s Succession, which tells the story of a media mogul’s family, won the Emmy for best TV drama series, beating out archrival Squid Game.

Best actress

American Zendaya, who plays a drug-addicted teenager in HBO’s Euphoria, won best actress in a TV drama series, beating out other contenders Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Melanie Lynskey ( Yellowjackets) and Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show).
