However, HBO’s Succession, which tells the story of a media mogul’s family, won the Emmy for best TV drama series, beating out archrival Squid Game.

American Zendaya, who plays a drug-addicted teenager in HBO’s Euphoria, won best actress in a TV drama series, beating out other contenders Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Melanie Lynskey ( Yellowjackets) and Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show).
