“A wonderful life – a live radio play”. Frank Capra’s eternal Christmas movie is coming from December 23rd and only for 9 performances at the Athens Concert Hall directed by Giannis Kalavrianou and an excellent cast: Konstantinos Markoulakis, Nikos Psarras, Nadia Kontogeorgi, George Glastras, Angelos Bouvas. A co-production of the cultural organization “Twilight” with the Athens Concert Hall.
“It’s a Wonderful Life” is a show based on the adaptation of Frank Capra’s classic, all-time favorite film of the same name. In a radio studio in the 1940s, shortly after the end of the War, six actors broadcast the film and played all its roles. At the same time, they create all the sounds of the film on stage, in the way that the sound effects of the time were created, using everyday and unexpected objects, as taught by a “foley”, a professional in creating sound effects of films. At the same time, the live jazz orchestra monitors the action, intervenes and comments. Together they create the radio transfer of the world of film and the moving story of George Bailey. A show in which the playful alternation of roles, the creation of imaginary worlds and the belief of artists and spectators that life can be truly wonderful triumph.
