The 36-year-old actress will have to pay her ex-husband more than $10 million in damages
Amber Heard has changed lawyers again in her bid to get two insurance companies to take over her defamation payment case against ex-husband Johnny Depp.
The 36-year-old actress will have to pay her ex-husband more than $10 million in damages after a court ruled she defamed her ex-husband in a 2018 newspaper article.
The actress recently hired Kirk Pasich on her legal team in an effort to get insurance companies to cover the amount. “Puck” claims Amber Heard’s expenses ballooned to more than $8 million before the Virginia trial even began.
The “battle” involves Travelers Commercial Insurance Company and New York Marine General Insurance Company. Travelers initially sued New York Marine in July 2021 to win back half of the costs it spent defending a client who turned out to be the actress.
Insurers are currently suing Amber to avoid contributing to the defamation settlement after the ‘Aquaman’ actress must pay Depp about $10.35 million, using a California law that does not bind insurers to cover “intentional acts”.
