A new biography sheds light on the famous chef’s death

A new biography sheds light on the last painful days leading up to his death Anthony Bourdain.

Journalist’s book Charles Learsen about the chef, author and TV show host, “Down and Out in Paradise: The Life of Anthony Bourdain,” is out Oct. 11 and was excerpted in the New York Times.

The book includes messages allegedly sent by Bourdain, who committed suicide on June 8, 2018, in his final days.

“I hate my fans. I hate being famous. I hate my job,” the chef wrote in a message to his estranged wife, Ottavia Buzia Bourdain, adding: “I am alone and living in constant uncertainty.” The couple were married from 2007-2016 and have a daughter, Ariane, 15.

The book also delves into Bourdain’s troubled relationship with Asia Argento, with whom he dated for about two years after splitting from Bouzia-Bourdain.

Bourdain exchanged messages with Argento in which he reportedly made it clear that he did not like the book about his life.

Both were reportedly disturbed by footage posted on social media of them.

Argento was photographed dancing with French reporter Hugo Clement in the lobby of the Hotel de Russie in Rome, where she and Bourdain had been staying together.

The pair, according to the book, argued, with him texting her after seeing the photo: “I’m fine. I’m not passionate. I’m not jealous that you were with another man. I don’t own you. You are free. As I said. As I promised. Like I really meant. But you were careless. You were reckless with my heart. My life”.

The late TV star is believed to have been hurt that the ‘meeting’ took place at a hotel where they had spent time together. Argento replied, “I can’t take this,” and Bourdain asked, “Is there anything I can do?”

The book has been criticized by Argento, family members and friends of Bourdain, including his brother Christopher.
