“We have the right to be happy because we did it. We did not succeed in proportion, nor did we succeed if we think about the conditions. “We just did it” were the first words of the chairman of the “Greece 2021” Committee, Giannas Angelopoulou – Daskalaki, at an event held today at the Concert Hall where the documentary of the committee’s work was presented and the members of its sponsorship program were honored.

Among the sponsors honored by the “Greece 2021” Commission was the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency, which as a communication sponsor of the committee promoted its work and activities throughout Greece throughout the year. The honorary award was received by Mrs. Angelopoulou, the president of APE, Emilios Perdikaris.

In her speech, Ms. Angelopoulou stressed that the goals set by the Commission were initially the maximum participation of the society. Second, actions should be taken throughout Greece and in as many countries as possible. Thirdly, to spread the events throughout the anniversary year and not to be limited only to celebrations and memory events but to be actions that will leave a legacy. “All these goals have been achieved.” Mrs. Angelopoulou underlined, adding that the society participated in large numbers, as a result of which almost 1,000 actions were included in the action calendar of the Commission “Greece 2021”.

Ms. Angelopoulou, referring to the proposals for actions submitted by the Municipalities of Greece, stressed that there were dozens and that with the help of the Commission they joined the “Antonis Tritsis” program of the Ministry of Interior for funding with a total budget of 50 million euros. In addition, he stressed that about 400 actions and events of municipalities took place under the auspices of the committee and that many of them were either directly funded by the committee or supported by the sponsors of the committee actions.

Regarding the actions designed and implemented by the Greece 2021 Commission, Mrs. Angelopoulou stood in the production of the documentary entitled “I know you by face, 200 years of Greece”, in the organization of the forum “Greece in 2040” and in the simultaneous presentation in 18 cities of Greece with the projection mapping technique of the project “Desire for Freedom”.

At the same time, the committee supported the state and the NSS in the fight against the coronary pandemic by donating 18 portable ICUs to the “Papanikolaou” hospital in Thessaloniki and by financing a research for the development of a pioneering Greek drug against the coronary artery. In fact, as revealed by the President of the Commission, the results of the clinical trials of the drug are excellent. In addition, a significant amount of revenue from the committee’s monetary program will be used to take concrete action to repair the effects of last summer’s devastating fires.

Ms. Angelopoulou clarified that the committee did not receive a single euro from the state and that all its revenues came from its Monetary Program, which was developed thanks to the sponsorship of the Bank of Greece, and the generous support of the other sponsors. “You are the driving force of the program coordinated by the Commission” Greece 2021 “. “Not only because you allocated the necessary resources, but because your offer was another motivation for us, who were trying to respond to the work we undertook,” said Mrs. Angelopoulou, addressing the sponsors of the committee.

Finally, Ms. Angelopoulou revealed that the committee is left with a respectable balance of resources which will be allocated for the implementation of worthwhile proposals that had been submitted but could not be included in its action plan due to objective difficulties.
