Asteroid Nilerodgers was first discovered in April 2005
American record producer, songwriter, musician, composer, arranger and guitarist, Nile Rodgersnow has the same name as an asteroid.
Rogers’ friend Simon Laery, who works at the European Southern Observatory and works with the International Astronomical Union presented the Nile Rodgers (191911) at a dinner to celebrate the songwriter’s 70th birthday.
According to “Rolling Stone,” Asteroid Nilerodgers (191911) was first discovered in April 2005. Laery took the necessary steps to get the International Astronomical Union to approve officially renaming the potato-shaped asteroid Nilerodgers.
Around 300 million miles from Earth, Nilerodgers (191911), an asteroid recently named after the producer-musician, is orbiting the sun.

The asteroid is about 300 million miles from Earth, between Mars and Jupiter, and takes about six years to complete a full orbit.
“Once you get past the surprise of the gesture, you connect with the love that made it happen,” Rogers told Rolling Stone of the gift, adding, “It’s the love, the human emotions that other people give you, so I hope that in all my life I will continue to give to others as much as I can.”
Rogers celebrated his birthday on September 19 by donating $1 million to his non-profit We Are Family Foundation.
