‘Bitcoin Pharaoh’, Glaidson Acácio receives 37 thousand votes for federal deputy

Even in prison, Glaidson Acácio dos Santos, known as the “Pharaoh of Bitcoin”, had a total of 37,935 votes for Christian Democracy for the position of federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro.

His candidacy is contested by the TRE. Acácio is accused of a billionaire pyramid scheme and recently had his preventive detention ordered due to Operation Kryptos, the first against him, revoked by the STJ (Superior Court of Justice).

However, another six warrants keep him behind bars, related to financial transactions and attacks on competitors in the market. He denies all crimes.

Another case that drew attention was that of journalist Marcos Uchôa, 64. He, who in August had withdrawn his candidacy for the position of federal deputy in Rio de Janeiro, ended up receiving 850 votes even so. Before the election, he found out that his name was still on the ballot box and asked them not to vote for him.

“I don’t know it was a mistake, I don’t know what it was. They didn’t take my name away at the TRE. Please don’t vote for me. My candidate for federal deputy is Alexandre Saraiva. it’s mine, it’s the party’s [PSB]. Unfortunately they kept my name,” she said in a video.
