First screening in Thessaloniki of the documentary “Ennio” about Ennio Morricone, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore

The first pan-Hellenic screening took place last Saturday at the Athens Concert Hall.

When his son Ennio Morricone, Marcofirst saw the documentary “Ennio”, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, he called, as he told APE-MPE, the director, and thanked him for revealing to him aspects of his father that he did not know.

The first screening of the documentary in Thessaloniki, in his presence Marco Morricone, produced by Gianni Russo and Alessandro De Rosa, Morricone’s official biographer, was watched last night at the art cafe “Ypsilon” by a crowd of people, while the first pan-Hellenic screening took place last Saturday at the Athens Concert Hall.

Alessandro De Rosa and Gianni Russo stated that they were impressed with the acceptance of the people both in Athens and in Thessaloniki. The second, before the screening at the Athens Concert Hall, called Tornatore to describe the atmosphere.

“Only in Venice have we received a similar reception, while for the film we have gone all over the world, to about 50 countries,” the producer emphasized.

The tribute organized in Thessaloniki by the Ennio Morricone Greek Music Friends Cultural Association will continue. As its president Konstantinos Papakostas said, the documentary will next be screened at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, while an annual festival is planned with events and films for which the conductor wrote music.

“We are very happy that this is a very commendable, private initiative,” said the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Maria Karagianni.

On the initiative of the Association, the book “Looking for that sound” by Alessandro De Rosa, which was published in Italian in 2016 and now, will be released on Friday, October 7, 2022 by “Metronomos” publications, translated into Greek – translation – edited by ‘Anna Noussi’ it has been translated into 12 languages.

A rich program of events for Ennio Morricone has been planned for October 4 and 5, 2022 by the Association at its headquarters, Larissa.
